Makes 12 large cookies.
Ingredients:
- 3 Tbsp vegetable shortening
- 3 Tbsp butter, softened
- 1/4 c sugar
- 1/4 c brown sugar, packed
- 2 Tbsp beaten whole egg (1/2 an egg)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 c all purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 c walnuts, chopped
- 3 oz chocolate chips (or chopped milk chocolate bars)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In medium bowl, soften and blend the shortening and butter.
- Add sugar and brown sugar. Cream the mixture.
- Sir in egg and vanilla until well-mixed.
- Sift in the flour, baking soda and salt. Blend well.
- Fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips until evenly dispersed.
- Drop dough by tablespoons on the parchment paper, spacing cookies well apart. You should get 12 large cookies.
- Bake l minutes, or until golden. Remove to cooling rack. Cool completely before serving.
