This is my way of making patties or burgers from a can of Loma Linda Vegetarian Burger. I find they hold together nicely this way and are full of great flavor.
Makes 8 burgers.
Ingredients:
- 1 (15 oz) can Loma Linda Vegetarian Burger
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 c chickpea flour (besan)
- 1/2 c onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ground sage
- 1/4 tsp vegetable salt (or sea salt)
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- high-temperature oil for frying
Directions:
- In large bowl, add Loma Linda Vegetarian Burger, eggs, oats, chickpea flour, onion, sage, vegetable salt, and pepper. Stir well.
- Cover and refrigerate one hour or more.
- Place oil (1/8 inch deep) in a heavy, large skillet.
- Warm the oil on medium low. Remove burger mix from refrigerator.
- Form 8 large burgers with hands and flatten them to about 4 inches in diameter.
- Working in one or two batches, carefully slide the burgers into the hot oil. Cook until bottoms are well browned and firm (5-10 minutes).
- Flip them over, being careful not to splatter the oil. Cook until remaining sides are firm and brown (3-5 minutes).
- Remove to a holding plate until all burgers are done.
- Serve hot on buns with condiments of your choice. (Also good cold as a lunchbox treat.)
