Peanut Butter Grits

These grits go well with black-eyed peas, greens and squash, making them the perfect choice for a Southern (American) dinner.

Serves 4-6.


  • 1 c yellow corn grits
  • 2 c water
  • 2 c milk (dairy or vegan)
  • 1/4 c peanut butter
  • 1/4 c peanuts, shelled


  1. In a large pot, place the grits, water, milk, and peanut butter. Whisk over medium high heat until the peanut butter is dissolved.
  2. Reduce heat to low and whisk until bubbling. Continue to whisk over the heat for 5 minutes, or until the desired thickness and texture.
  3. Spoon into bowls or onto dishes and sprinkle with peanuts. Serve with greens and beans or peas for a savory treat, or serve for breakfast with a drizzle of honey.
