These rutabaga fries are full of flavor and lower in calories than the usual potato ones. Try them with ketchup and pair them with veggie dogs for a great summer treat.
Serves 4.
Ingredients:
- 2 small rutabagas (9 oz each)
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/8 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp season salt
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
- Peel rutabagas and cut them into French fry shapes.
- Place the olive oil on one full sized baking sheet or 2 half sized ones. Toss the rutabaga fries in the oil until all are well-coated. Spread the fries out so they are not crowded. (Crowding will cause soggy fries.)
- Sprinkle the fries with paprika and store-bought or homemade season salt.
- Bake 15 minutes, turn the fries over, and continue baking them for 10-15 more minutes, or until browned and crisp.
