With Autumn here, I like to have a jar of homemade “apple pie spice” at the ready. I use it in my Nutty Green Tomato Muffins, Vegetarian Mincemeat Pie, puddings, cakes, and of course Mum’s Apple Pie. Recipe: In a small bowl, blend 1/4 cup of cinnamon with 1 tablespoon allspice, 2 teaspoon nutmeg, 1 1/2 teaspoon ginger, 1/2 teaspoon cardamom, and 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves. Funnel it into a standard spice jar…and enjoy!
