Dragon fruit (Pitaya) are sometimes available in American markets or farmer’s markets. This member of the cactus family has a bright red peel which is easily removed with a paring knife. Do not remove more than a thin layer of the peel, or you will lose the lovely crimson color. Once you have removed the peel, the entire fruit may be enjoyed, including seeds. The taste and texture will be similar to that of a kiwi, but slightly less sweet. Slice the fruit crosswise and arrange on a plate. Drizzle with honey and dollop with plain yogurt if desired. This makes a special dessert, or can be served for a Sunday brunch.
