This makes a wonderful party páté that is not loaded with fat, yet is full of traditional flavors. I used Sanitarium Brand Tender Pieces (now under the new brand name Vegie Delights) however they are difficult to find in the United States. Produced in Australia and New Zealand, they can sometimes be found in Seventh Day Adventist Stores in America. A good substitute would be the Loma Linda Redi-Burger.
Makes about 1 cup.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 c red onion, roughly chopped
- 1/2 c Sanitarium brand Tender Pieces (or Loma Linda Redi-Burger), broken up
- 1/4 c fresh parsley, roughly chopped
- 2 slices fresh white bread, torn into small pieces
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 Tbsp water
- 1 Tbsp mayonaise or Vegenaise
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Directions:
- Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until a soft pureed consistency.
- Serve with raw vegetable sticks, matzo bread, or crackers.
