You never quite know what you are getting with store blended chili powder. This is a blend I like for my own chili powder. It does not have much heat, is not heavy on the cumin, yet provides a good, rich depth of seasoning. It can be used with other spices for many South and Central American dishes.
Makes 1 cup.
Here is a simple recipe for Cajun Seasoning that you can substitute for McCormick's Cajun Seasoning or other popular spice mixes.
I ran out of chili powder recently, and this recipe came in handy. It is medium in "heat", and will not overpower your recipes, but will definitely add a kick.
Makes 1 1/3 cup.
Makes 1/2 cup of seasoning.
Makes about one cup of herbs.
Makes about 3 cups.
Makes about 1/3 cup of spice mix.
