Jamaican Jerk Seasoning

Purchasing Jamaican Jerk seasoning can be pricey. With this recipe, we have used the single spices already in our cupboard to make an outstanding Jerk seasoning with a real kick.

Makes about 10 tablespoons.


  • 2 Tbsp dry granulated onion
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp dry crushed thyme
  • 2 tsp ground allspice
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground chili pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground Indian bay leaf or cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground mace
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves


  1. In a half pint jar with a tight lid, mix all ingredients and shake well.

Use as a rub on tofu, tempeh, seitan or vegetarian burgers. This blend can be use in roasted vegetables. Just rub the vegetables with oil, then roll them in the Jerk seasoning. Roast in a hot oven.
